Gatsby lies about his past as he explains it to Nick. Nick really is not buying it. I believe that Gatsby goes a little over board with telling "lies" he says. But, Gatsby has proof to back up what the things he said he have done in the past. For example the metals from the War, and a picture that he has from being an "Oxford Man".
Gatsby is clearly above the law. He gets stopped by the police and he shows the a white card. The officer gives the card back and tells Gatsby sorry for bothering him. It's safe to say that if you had enough power in society and wealthy for that matter, you can be above the law. Gatsby introduces Wolfshiem to Nick. He comes off as a shady character. Nick gut feeling is true when Wolfshiem tells him that world series was paid. I would be in the same position that Nick is in and question where and how Gatsby gets his money.
Gatsby wants to see Daisy again but is afraid of her reacted to the situation. So he wants Nick to set up where she comes over and he was going to be there by accident. So I wonder what Daisy react will be. It can go either way, good or bad.

Friends to dust
Even though Gatsby is no longer alive, rumors are still spread around about him. Nick tries to contact Gatsby's "friends" so that they would come to his funeral. Tom and Daisy disappeared, his friends in the corrupt business did not bother to show up to his funeral. The only characters in the novel that went were: Owl Eyes, Nick, Gat Henry C Gatz, and a few servants. This does not really surprises me that only a few people showed because majority of the people really didn't know him. People used him for his parties and items.
Nick see's Tom while he is in New York City and almost refuses to shake his hand at first. Tom comes clean and says that he was the one that told Wilson it Gatsby's car but Nick tries to tell him that it was Daisy but she interrupts him before he says it. Nick goes to Gatsby's home before he leaves to move back Midwest. It's a good move for Nick to move away from everybody because he knows there fake.
